The long of it:

Jerisa Macalino is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer based out of San Francisco, California. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. For the last two decades, Jerisa has continued to forge her path as an artist and entrepreneur utilizing her natural artistry in both design and the visual arts, coupled with her business insight.

Originally hailing from Guam, Jerisa often incorporates cultural Filipino and CHamoru aspects into her artwork in homage to her roots. Each piece carries a story from her personal life centered around her undeniable love for music, people, and culture.

Jerisa’s unique style is distinctly influenced by her early introduction to 1990’s graffiti and street art at the age of 10. While in school, she would draw fliers and personalized pieces for her peers as a way to get her name out. Other inspirations include classic comic book illustrations, nature, and dreamscapes.

Although she favors working with ink and aerosols, she aspires to remain versatile in her craft. For this reason, she also uses several other mediums such as graphite, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, and oil.

After years of creating artwork for others, Jerisa eventually launched her first online store in 2006, featuring her graffiti-inspired artwork on t-shirts and prints. It sparked her continued interest in design and entrepreneurship.

In late 2009, she opened a small design firm specializing in graphic design and web development. During this time she has been able to work with notable names across diverse industries. Including the UC Santa Cruz Annual Multicultural Festival, Chuck D. of Public Enemy, Dana Dane, Erik B., the Fat Boys, J.J. Fad, Jeff Timmons 98 Degrees, Award-winning music producer & arranger Rob Lewis, Emmy-nominated Choreographer Glenn Douglas Packard, UFC Hall of Famer Frank Trigg, and Men of the Strip (as seen on the E! Network), to name a few.

More recently, Jerisa released her first coloring book for adults in 2019 titled “Young Heart, Old Soul.” At the top of 2020, she started work on her new illustrated book of short stories. She currently balances her time between design, commissions, and creating new artwork for her next collection.
